Rob Reiner's Son Arrested for Parents' Murder

Rob Reiner’s troubled son Nick fatally stabbed the famed director and his wife Michele at their Los Angeles home, authorities said Monday.

Nick Reiner, 32, who spent years in and out of rehab for drug addiction, is in custody and being held without bail, Page Six confirmed.

He was detained Sunday night after police discovered the director of “The Princess Bride” and his longtime spouse had been hacked to death in their mansion, the sources said.

The couple’s daughter Romy found Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Reiner, 68, with their throats slashed around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and told cops that she believed a family member “should be suspect,” TMZ reported.

Romy told cops she thought that the relative was “dangerous,” according to the report.

Nick Reiner previously opened up about his battle with addiction and bouts of homelessness.

“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” Nick told People in a 2016 interview.

He said he first went to rehab at age 15, and ended up doing at least 17 stints in treatment.

He added: “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”

The younger Reiner said he “could’ve died” after bailing on a treatment center and living on the streets when he was just 19.

“It’s all luck,” he said. “You roll the dice, and you hope you make it.”

To help cope with his troubled life and demons, Nick Reiner told the celeb glossy that he co-wrote the semi-autobiographical movie “Being Charlie.”

His dad directed the 2015 film, and “The Princess Bride” star Cary Elwes appeared in it.

“It was very, very hard going through it the first time, with these painful and difficult highs and lows,” Rob Reiner told the LA Times in 2016 about his son’s battle with addiction.

“And then making the movie dredged it all up again.”

But Nick Reiner acknowledged in his interview with People that his addiction “made me who I am now, having to deal with that stuff.”

“I met crazy great people there, so out of my element. Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in LA and being around my family,” he said at the time.

Rob Reiner and his wife of 36 years Michele Singer Reiner, Nick’s mom, were found dead in their Brentwood home Sunday afternoon.

The couple were reportedly stabbed to death with a knife after a heated argument, TMZ first reported.
