Both the U.S. House and Senate have overwhelmingly passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a bipartisan bill compelling the Department of Justice to publicize its files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

The bill passed the House in a 427-1 vote. The only House member voting against the bill was Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA).

Senate passed it unanimously just hours later.

It is now awaiting President Donald Trump’s signature, which he has publicly said he will sign after initially opposing the measure.

The bipartisan legislation requires the public release of all Department of Justice documents related to Epstein, his associates, and the circumstances surrounding his detention and death.

The law mandates release of these files within 30 days of Trump’s signature, while protecting survivors’ personal information and excluding information that could interfere with ongoing investigations or national security.

The bill specifies that no record can be withheld due to political sensitivity or potential reputational harm, including for current or former public officials named in the materials.

Documents covered include internal communications, agreements, details about immunity and prosecutions, investigation records, and materials on Epstein’s custody and death.

The legislation’s passage follows months of resistance from Republican leaders and President Trump, who reversed his position after a bipartisan coalition forced the measure forward.

Once signed, the Justice Department will begin releasing files, with redactions limited to essential privacy and security exceptions only.
