A senior Department of Justice official reportedly instructed half a dozen top federal prosecutors to probe a George Soros-founded liberal philanthropic arm for potentially funding “pro-terror groups.”

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s office told several US attorneys in a directive to begin looking into the viability of bringing possible arson, wire fraud, racketeering or material support for terrorism charges against entities linked to Soros’ Open Society Foundations, The New York Times reported.

The directive cited a report from the Capital Research Center, a conservative watchdog group, that alleged the liberal billionaire’s grant network shelled out $80 million to “groups tied to terrorism or extremist violence” — including the Center for Third World Organizing, the Ruckus Society, the Sunrise Movement and the Movement for Black Lives.

Millions of dollars have also flowed from the group to non-governmental organizations based abroad, including Al-Haq, a West Bank-located group that was sanctioned by the US State Department earlier this month.

Aakash Singh, a former chief counsel to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) who now works for Blanche, sent the directive Monday to US attorneys’ offices in New York, Maryland, Washington, DC, Detroit, Chicago and California, according to The Times.

DOJ spokesman Chad Gilmartin in a Thursday statement did not confirm or deny the existence of such a directive — but affirmed that department officials and the US attorneys offices “will always prioritize public safety and investigate organizations that conspire to commit acts of violence or other federal violations of law.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) told The Post he was “glad the DOJ is investigating these shadow networks for potential criminal misconduct and hope it brings those that have funded political violence and riots in violation of our laws to justice.”

“For too long, left wing dark money groups like the Open Society Foundation have been funding left wing anarchy and violence across the country,” Schmitt said.

The Open Society Foundations spent more than $1.2 billion last year “promoting justice, equity, human rights, and democratic practice” as part of its immense grantmaking network.

In a Thursday statement, a spokesperson said: “The Open Society Foundations unequivocally condemn terrorism and do not fund terrorism. Our activities are peaceful and lawful, and our grantees are expected to abide by human rights principles and comply with the law.

“These accusations are politically motivated attacks on civil society, meant to silence speech the administration disagrees with and undermine the First Amendment right to free speech,” the rep added. “When power is abused to take away the rights of some people, it puts the rights of all people at risk.”

“Our work in the United States is dedicated to strengthening democracy and upholding constitutional freedoms. We stand by the work we do to improve lives in the United States and across the world.”

The move comes after Vice President JD Vance and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller revealed they were working on an “organized strategy to go after left-wing organizations that are promoting violence” in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

“The organized doxing campaigns, the organized riots, the organized street violence, the organized campaigns of dehumanization, vilification, posting people’s addresses, combining that with messaging that is designed to trigger [or] incite violence and the actual organized cells that carry out and facilitate the violence,” Miller explained on “The Charlie Kirk Show” as it was hosted by Vance following the assassination of Kirk at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

“It is a vast domestic terror,” Miller stressed.

“We’re gonna go after the NGO [non-governmental organization] network that foments, facilitates, and engages — that’s not OK,” Vance also said, name-checking both Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the Ford Foundation. “Violence is not OK in our system, and we want to make it less likely that that happens.”

Elsewhere, the vice president also name-checked the Open Society Foundations for having allegedly “funded” a “disgusting article justifying Charlie’s death” in The Nation.

The lefty magazine had received a five-figure donation for an internship program in the past, but no grants had been awarded since that concluded in 2020.

The Capital Research Center report on Sept. 17 stated: “Open Society has sent millions of dollars into U.S.-based organizations that engage in ‘direct actions’ that the FBI defines as domestic terrorism.”

“These groups include the Center for Third World Organizing and its militant partner Ruckus Society, which trained activists in property destruction and sabotage during the 2020 riots, and the Sunrise Movement, which endorsed the Antifa-linked Stop Cop City campaign, in which activists currently face over 40 domestic terrorism charges and 60 racketeering indictments,” the 90-page document also noted.

“At the same time, Open Society awarded $18 million to the Movement for Black Lives, a group that co authored a radical guide that glorifies Hamas’s October 7 massacre and instructs activists in the use of false IDs, blockades, and economic disruption.”

President Trump suggested in an Aug. 27 Truth Social post that Soros and his son Alex, who has assumed a larger role at Open Society in recent years, should face Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act charges for allegedly funding the “radical left” and supporting “violent protests.”

Schmitt, who chairs the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, is preparing to launch his own probe of left-wing groups either promoting political violence or tied to support for domestic terror, said a source familiar with the effort.
