Bruce Willis Can No Longer Speak, Walk, Read
Hollywood icon Bruce Willis is reportedly no longer able to speak, read, or walk as his frontotemporal dementia continues to progress.
The devastating update comes three years after the Die Hard star first stepped away from acting following a diagnosis of aphasia in 2022.
Bruce, 70, is said to have become largely non-verbal and is reportedly experiencing motor difficulties, though no specific details about his mobility have been confirmed by his family in recent months. It comes after daughter Tallulah defend the decision to post controversial photos of her father.
In April 2025, Willis’ family issued a rare public update reassuring fans that while the disease remains progressive, his condition is considered stable.
Bruce’s wife Emma Heming Willis and daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah have continued to update fans with heartfelt tributes, using their social media platforms to raise awareness of the rare and misunderstood condition that has affected their beloved father and husband.
In a deeply personal post, his eldest daughter Rumer wrote, “I wish I had asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all. I can still hold you and hug you... I’ll try to just be grateful.”
Frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, is a degenerative brain disease that affects areas of the brain responsible for behavior, personality, and language.
It is distinct from Alzheimer’s and often strikes younger individuals, typically between the ages of 45 and 65. Willis’ case has helped bring much-needed visibility to the illness.
Willis first received an aphasia diagnosis in 2022, which impacts speech and language comprehension, before being diagnosed with FTD in early 2023.
Since then, he has been cared for privately by his family, who have remained committed to both honoring his legacy and advocating for public awareness of the condition.
Emma, Willis's wife, opened up about the emotional weight of being a caregiver.
“I want it all back,” she wrote candidly. But she also emphasised his resilience, saying that even in his silence, he continues to teach their family about strength, presence, and unconditional love.
Emma has announced a forthcoming book, The Unexpected Journey, about her caregiving experience.
Tallulah shared a series of rare family photos and a short message: “It was a great day filled with smiles.”
Tallulah smiles as she holds the actor’s hand as he sits in a chair and she sits next to him on the ground.
Another sees her fiancé, Justin Acee smiling with his arm wrapped around Bruce—who is also dad to Rumer, 36, and Scout, 33 with ex Demi as well as Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, with wife, Emma.
“On one hand, it's who we are as a family,” she explained during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in November 2023. “But also, it's really important for us to spread awareness about FTD.
“If we can take something that we're struggling with as a family and individually, to help other people, to turn it around, to make something beautiful about it, that's really special for us.”
