Black Student Stabs White Classmate at Atlanta HS

Video emerged from an Atlanta high school on Friday showing a student stabbing another in the head. The incident took place at North Atlanta High School and the school district has confirmed it, saying that there was a fight that broke out at the school's cafeteria. One student was hospitalized.

The student who was stabbed was white and was taken to the hospital after the incident while the alleged perpetrator was black. The altercation took place in the hallway of the school and toward the end of it the alleged perpetrator called the other a "white b*tch."

“One student sustained an injury involving a pair of scissors. School staff responded to secure the area, ensure the safety of all students, and provide care to the injured student, who is currently being treated at a local hospital,” Atlanta Public Schools said in a statement. “This was an isolated incident involving only the two students. No other students were involved, and there is no ongoing threat to students or staff."

The student used a pair of scissors, according to WSB-TV, and on the video the sound of it is audible. The school was put on a soft lockdown after the incident which took place at around 8:30 am local time.

The student with the scissors could be seen running up to the victim after the attack screaming “white b*tch!” before he was stopped by another individual. Charges in the stabbing were pending after the incident.

The video shows the escalation of events as the alleged perpetrator reaches into his backpack and pulls out the pair of scissors. He then struck and stabbed the victim multiple times. Other students in the hallway can be heard yelling out as the camera zooms in on the face of the victim, showing blood pouring down his face.

Fox 5 reported that the video appeared to show that the victim had been stabbed in the eye. The alleged perpetrator was detained by police and the school district's law enforcement body is handling the investigation into the incident.

"The incident is being investigated by school administrators, following all applicable student discipline protocols, and by Atlanta Public Schools Police, with criminal charges pending," the school said in another statement.

One parent who spoke to reporters said that one of her children was also stabbed last year while attending North Atlanta High School. After the incident took place and the brief lockdown, classes went back to normal at the school.

The have been a spate of stabbings at high schools of late, such as the recent incident at a North Carolina high school on December 9 which resulted in a fatality. Two students at North Forsyth High School were in an altercation over a vape pen when 16-year-old Cameron Graham was stabbed to death in the high school bathroom. An 18-year-old also suffered defensive wounds.

“We responded to an altercation between two students,” Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough said at a news conference about the North Carolina stabbing, adding that “there was a loss of life.”

Another high school stabbing this year that caught the attention of national media took place in Fairfax, Virginia at West Potomac High School, where the victim had life-threatening injuries but survived.
