Bill Clinton Seen with Defibrillator at Hamptons Airport
Former President Bill Clinton, 79, has reignited fears that his health is declining after he and Hillary Clinton were spotted leaving the Hamptons with a defibrillator in tow.
The political power couple were seen carrying a portable unit which appeared to be a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag - a lightweight transport monitor and defibrillator - at the airport on Thursday.
Bill Clinton has a history of heart health issues, having previously suffered a heart attack that required bypass surgery in 2004.
The former president wore a blue jacket and tan hat as he exited a vehicle and was accompanied to the plane by his security team.
Hillary, his wife and Former Secretary of State, put a black sweatshirt over her blue two-piece set for their flight.
Clinton's health has been in the spotlight in recent years as the once-vibrant Democrat has noticeably aged.
Last year, he was discharged from the hospital on Christmas Eve after being treated for the flu.
Clinton was hospitalized on December 23 at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, and was undergoing additional testing after developing a fever.
'President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu,' Angel Urena, Clinton's former deputy chief of staff, said in a statement to DailyMail.com.
'He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received.'
'He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all.'
Urena said a day earlier that the former president had remained in 'good spirits' and hoped to be home in time for Christmas.
Prior to that, he had a health scare in 2021 and was also hospitalized after a urological infection spread to his bloodstream.
A few years after leaving the White House, Clinton had a quadruple heart bypass at the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center of Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan in 2004.
Doctors said he had a nearly 100 percent blockage in some of his arteries when he underwent surgery and had narrowly avoided having a major heart attack.
In 2010, he suffered discomfort in his chest and was taken to hospital in New York - the same where he had his quadruple bypass.
There, he had a stent inserted into his artery, which is a fairly common procedure.
The Clintons have been in headlines recently after they were subpoenaed on August 5 by the House Oversight Committee as part of the congressional investigation into the government's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Neither Bill nor Hillary are currently under investigation.
Their depositions would likely explore connections between the disgraced financier and high-profile figures – including the Clintons.
Bill is scheduled to testify on October 14 this year and Hillary on October 9, though it's unclear if they will comply with the subpoenas.
In his memoir that came out last year, Bill admitted to flying on Epstein's private jet, but claimed he had no knowledge of his crimes and said he regrets ever having met him.
He explained that travelling aboard Epstein's jet was not worth the years of speculation around his character, and the questioning that has come with it.
Clinton wrote: 'The bottom line is, even though it allowed me to visit the work of my foundation, traveling on Epstein’s plane was not worth the years of questioning afterward. I wish I had never met him.'
