Supreme Court Justice's Sister Targeted by Bomb Threat at SC Home

The sister of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice was targeted by a bomb threat on Monday morning, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Around 9:30 a.m., officers responded after a bomb threat was made against Amanda Coney Williams, the sister of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Authorities said an employee of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office received the threat via email on March 8 just before 11 p.m. The sheriff's office then forwarded the email to Charleston Police Department, who investigated the incident.

The email read the following:

"Using a 1x8-inch threaded galvanized pipe, end caps, a kitchen timer, some wires, metal clips and homemade black powder, I've constructed a pipe bomb which I recently placed in Amy Coney Barrett's sister's mailbox at her home in Charleston, SC. The device's detonation will be triggered as soon as the mailbox is next opened. Free Palestine!"

Amanda's husband David Williams stated that he did not know who would be targeting the home, but that an unknown person had attempted to deliver pizza to some households related to Barrett over the weekend.

Shortly after, officials determined the threat to be a false alarm after inspecting Williams' mailbox.

At this time, no arrests have been made in the investigation.
