Glenn Greenwald Sex Tape Leak

Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald accused “maliciously political” actors of criminally leaking a sexually explicit video of him early Friday morning.

“Last night, videos were released online depicting behavior in my private life. Some were distorted and others were not. They were published without my knowledge or consent and its publication was therefore criminal,” Greenwald wrote in a Friday statement.

Greenwald indicated that he was close to finding out who leaked the video.

One widely circulated video depicts Greenwald, an openly gay man, dressed scantily in women’s clothing on his knees. A man speaking Portuguese verbally degrades him and then demands Greenwald send him 10,000 Brazilian Real, equivalent to just over $2000.

Greenwald complies and the video shows him sending the money via PayPal.

“As for the content of the videos: I have no embarrassment or regret about them. The videos depict consenting adults engaged in intimate actions in their private lives. They all display fully consensual behavior, harming nobody,” Greenwald’s statement read.

Prostitution is legal in Brazil, the country in which Greenwald resides.

“The only wrongdoing here is the criminal and malicious publication of the videos in an attempt to malign perceived political enemies and advance a political agenda,” he continued.

“It won’t change my work. I will continue all the many prongs of my journalism, and pursue the causes most important to me, exactly as before,” Greenwald concluded.

Greenwald is an avowed progressive but is a frequent guest on Fox News and an ardent critic of the legacy media and a defender of free speech.

In 2021 he called the legacy media’s obsession with January 6 rioters and individuals who chose not to get the COVID-19 vaccine “political persecution.”

He’s frequently condemned Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes, who banned X from Brazil after a public feud with Elon Musk. Greenwald has referred to him as “Brazil’s chief censorship judge” and called him “monstrously tyrannical.”

Greenwald has also been highly critical of the U.S. military and intelligence community and, in recent years, has spoken ardently against Israel’s ongoing campaign in Gaza following the October 7, 2023 attacks by Hamas.

He co-founded independent news outlet The Intercept in 2014, but left in 2020 after claiming the outlet censored him from covering the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.
