FBI Launches Manhunt for Rock-Tossing LA Rioter
The FBI has identified the masked brute caught on camera hurling bricks at federal law enforcement authorities during the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots, US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced as she warned other instigators, “You can’t hide.”
“That guy has just been identified, and they are doing a search warrant on his house as we speak,” Bondi told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday.
“His name is Reyes. He is going to be on the most wanted list,” the attorney general added, suggesting the individual was still at large.
US Attorney Bill Essayli later identified the suspect as 40-year-old Elpidio Reyna.
“WANTED: Elpidio Reyna can run, but he can’t hide. He threw rocks at federal officers leaving a command post in Paramount on Saturday, a brazen attack caught on film and that could have resulted in deaths,” Essayli, the top prosecutor in the Central District of California, wrote on X.
The US attorney noted that Reyna is charged with assault on a federal officer and faces up to eight years in prison if convicted.
A spokesperson for the FBI’s Los Angeles field office confirmed that Reyna is not yet in custody.
“We’re actively seeking his whereabouts,” the spokesperson told The Post. “Our investigation is ongoing.”
The FBI had offered up to a $50,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest and conviction.
The bureau’s Los Angeles field office says the man is wanted for assaulting a federal officer and damaging government property on Saturday.
“The guy was breaking up the cinder blocks and he was throwing them” at federal law enforcement, Bondi said.
“He has been identified by great police work by the FBI,” she added. “So you can run. You can’t hide. We are coming after you, federally.”
“If you assault a police officer, if you rob a store, if you loot, if you spit on a police officer, we’re coming after you.”
Video footage of the incident shows the suspect striking at least eight different law enforcement vehicles racing down Alondra Boulevard with bricks, as other protesters cheered him on in Spanish.
The suspect is seen wearing a motorcycle helmet, sunglasses, a face covering and a hat in several photographs released by the FBI.
“What we’re going to do is we are going to enforce the law, regardless of what they do,” Bondi said, slamming local and state officials. “Look at it out there: It looks like a Third World country and it’s not. It’s the United States of America. We are not standing for it.”
“We have nine open cases right now and more to come on assaulting federal officers,” the attorney general revealed.
