DoorDash Driver Stabbed ‘at Least 10 Times’ and Carjacked by Man He Tried to Help

A Texas DoorDash driver is “lucky to be alive” when he was stabbed at least 10 times by a suspected homeless man he tried to help outside a Waffle House before the madman stole the worker’s newly bought car.

Jackson Oltmanns finished his last food run and stopped at a Fort Worth Waffle House for a bite to eat at 2 a.m. when Quindarius Cartwright approached him on March 29, he said on a GoFundMe page.

Cartwright – described by Oltmanns as homeless and possibly on drugs – confronted the 28-year-old driver and asked for food money.

Oltmanns told the 24-year-old beggar that he didn’t have any money to give out but offered to go into the restaurant to order food for the man as an act of kindness, a gesture he says he makes often.

Cartwright launched his brutal knife attack on Oltmanns as he stepped out of the car.

“He tried to kill me, stabbing me at least 10 times. Luckily, I was able to defend myself for most of it,” Oltmanns said on the crowdfunding website.

Cartwright stole Oltmanns 2024 Toyota Camry as he left his victim for dead, choosing to drive to a strip club before he was caught by police.

Oltmanns suffered multiple wounds, including a large gash to his right cheek.

“I thought I was dead. There was so much blood, but luckily, I’m still here,” Oltmanns said.

Cartwright was arrested by Fort Worth Police at 2:51 a.m., less than an hour after the attack, the GoFundMe read.

He was charged with aggravated robbery, according to jail records viewed by The Post.

He is being held at the Lon Evans Corrections Center on a $150,000 bond.

Workers inside the Waffle House were freaked out over Oltmanns’ injuries, but called 911 for help to the wounded customer.

“Most of the stab wounds to the body weren’t too bad. It was just when he stabbed me in the face that was really bad,” Oltmanns told KDFW.

The stolen car appeared to have sustained damage, indicating Cartwright crashed into something during his joyride.

“He definitely hit something pretty good, and it’s messed up the wheel,” Oltmanns said.

The driver, who works several jobs, says he is often approached by homeless individuals or those under the influence of drugs who look for money.

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked for money by homeless people or just people out on the streets, and typically, good nature is just to want to do a good thing for them, but I learned that night you’ve got to be very careful about who you’re willing to help out because sometimes they will take advantage of that good nature,” Oltmanns told the outlet.
