Australia: 4 Migrants Arrested Over Six-Hour Gang-Rape of Girl

The four teenagers have been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated sexual assault and sexual intercourse without consent.

The 17-year-old girl was allegedly approached by a 16-year-old boy, who was not known to her, at a shopping centre in Liverpool on December 15.

According to NSW Police, he is accused of following the teenager as she walked to the car park.

After she reluctantly let him inside her car, he allegedly video-called the co-accused males while sexually assaulting her, Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty said on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old then allegedly refused to leave but promised to do so if she drove him to Wheat Park in nearby Sadleir.

Offenders 'acted together', police allege

Upon reaching the park, two other males allegedly got into the vehicle and sexually assaulted the girl.

A fourth male drove to the scene in another car and allegedly entered the victim's car with the other three.

According to police, they drove the victim's car "erratically" around Sadleir and Miller while allegedly continuing to assault her.

Superintendent Doherty alleged they "encouraged each other" during the assault.

"The four of them acted together, creating fear on the victim," she alleged.

The superintendent said two of the offenders were "dropped off" before the remaining two allegedly returned to the park where "further sexual assault occurred".

At 11:30pm, the 17-year-old girl was finally left alone after six hours.

She called a friend who drove her to Liverpool Police Station to report the incident and receive medical assistance.

The case is being investigated by the State Crime Command's Sex Crime Squad.

Four arrests made

On December 20, detectives arrested the 16-year-old at a Condell Park home.

He was charged with 24 offences, including nine counts of sexual intercourse without consent, and eight counts of aggravated sex assault with offender in company with other persons.

Later that day, a 14-year-old was taken into custody at a Miller home and charged with 10 offences, including seven counts of aggravated sexual assault in company.

The boys appeared at a children's court on December 21.

Both were refused bail and were expected to appear before court again on August 11.

Detectives arrested an 18-year-old man on Tuesday at an address in Sadleir.

He was charged with nine counts of aggravated sexual assault in company, and was a minor when the alleged offending occurred.

The 18-year-old is expected to appear at a children's court on Wednesday.

Officers also executed a search warrant at a Heckenberg property and arrested 19-year-old Adam Abdul-Hamid, who was charged with five counts of the same offence.

Facing Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, Mr Abdul-Hamid did not apply for bail but his lawyer, Muhammad Tehseldar flagged a potential release application later this month.

Outside court, Mr Tehseldar told media his client "maintains his innocence".

"These are serious matters which are present before the court," he said.

'Offending at the highest level'

Superintendent Doherty issued a message to young men "that would seem to act like this".

"They have no right to act like this towards women," she said.

"This is offending at the highest level that you can think of."

The superintendent said police were able to track down the co-accused due to the "strength of the victim".

"She was able to give a very detailed statement over a number of days," she said.

She added the victim was "very distraught" by what allegedly happened and emphasised it was not the girl's fault.

NSW Premier Chris Minns acknowledged the "unimaginable ordeal" of the 17-year-old girl.

"I commend the bravery of the young woman who came forward and the tireless work of NSW Police in bringing these alleged offenders into custody."

Member for Liverpool Charishma Kaliyanda said her "heart goes out" to the girl.

"It takes immense courage to speak out, and we must support her every step of the way.

"As a community, we say enough is enough."

Superintendent Doherty said the alleged assault was not premeditated.

"From the evidence that we have, it was just an approach and [he] started talking to her," she said.

"There was no prior contact with the victim as far as we know."
